Vienna, Austria – October 23, 2025 – TriLite, the world’s leading provider of laser beam scanner (LBS) display technology for augmented reality (AR) and automotive applications, today announced the Trixel® 3 Cube, the latest evolution of its ultra-compact projection display platform.
The Cube marks the next level of miniaturization and system efficiency, combining TriLite’s proven optical architecture with an extremely reduced form factor and optimized power profile for seamless integration into AR eyewear and automotive display systems.
The Trixel 3 Cube is now available for ordering as an engineering sample, while TriLite qualifies its mass-production line to meet high-volume demand. The company expects first customer design-ins to begin in early 2026.
Miniaturization Meets Integration
With a total volume of approximately 1 cm³ and a weight of just 1.5 g, the Cube integrates the MEMS driver electronics directly into the projection unit. The compact width of about 10 mm allows system layouts where hinges can be placed close to the lenses — a major benefit for designers of consumer AR glasses. The refined optical design eliminates the need for relay optics while delivering up to 15 lumens brightness, true-black contrast of 500,000:1, a 214 % sRGB color gamut and a typical power consumption of around 145 mW. The result is a compact, energy-efficient display engine optimized for all-day wearable operation.
In addition to its applications in consumer AR, the Trixel 3 Cube is being qualified for automotive use, fulfilling high automotive quality requirements for robustness and reliability. The display engine supports Panoramic Head-up Displays (P-HUDs) and other advanced in-vehicle projection systems, enabling new user experiences while meeting stringent automotive standards.
Software-Defined Display Architecture
TriLite has shifted many traditionally hardware-intensive tasks into the software domain, simplifying testing and calibration for OEMs and ensuring consistently high image quality. This “software-defined display” concept also provides flexibility for future optical configurations and helps reduce development time from prototype to series integration.
Strong Ecosystem and Market Momentum
TriLite’s LBS display technology continues to attract strong interest across both consumer and automotive sectors. The company reports that most partners who have seen live demonstrations requested evaluation samples, reflecting growing confidence in the maturity of LBS as a display solution. Feedback from those who experienced has included comments such as “Best demo of the event.”
This growing confidence in laser beam scanning display solutions is also reflected across the broader AR ecosystem and industry leaders. TriLite will participate in a new Working Group on Laser Display for AR, sponsored by the AR Alliance and chaired by Meta, taking place during the upcoming Frontiers in Optics & Laser Science (FiO + LS) conference later this month. The company will also present joint demonstrations for a variety of applications at CES in January. TriLite’s investor portfolio includes Aumovio, APEX Ventures, B&C Innovation Investments, and Hermann Hauser, underlining strong strategic and financial backing for its scale-up phase.
Company Growth and Focus
Following its recent leadership transition, TriLite is entering a new phase of execution and growth, expanding its commercial organization with a Director of Commercial Operations and additional project management resources. The company is steadily increasing headcount and preparing for IATF 16949 certification as it scales toward mass production.
